Overview:
This company, iUi Design, is a lead designer of compact high-performance powered speakers and has expanded its products to include Bluetooth and headphone devices. The company hasn’t been around for too long (Q4 2010) but with a solid lineup of products it can surely make a dent in the market for portable speakers. Today we review the BeLive Portable Bluetooth Speakers, let’s see how well these speakers can perform.

First off, for a nice view of the product, I suggest looking at the iUi website directly over here since they have done a fantastic job of capturing the product from all different angles.

The speaker itself is a nice compact size – portable indeed. Although it appears to be a fingerprint magnet, from afar it isn’t noticeable at all.

Configuration & Setup:
First off – make sure the device you plan to use these speakers with have Bluetooth connectivity! I connected the device to my smartphone (HTC Desire). The process is the same as setting up any other Bluetooth device. Simply turn on the BeLive speakers and hold the power touch button that shows up – this will make the device discoverable. Then, make sure the device you want to connect with is set to discoverable, and then continue with the usual Bluetooth process (pair the two devices and then connect it). It might take a few tries, but that seems to be the cause with any device that you want to use Bluetooth with. For comparison purposes, I have included a picture of the speakers beside my desktop mouse to show that these speakers are indeed portable!

Performance:
The speakers did their job well and played music from my smartphone without any issues, skipping, or lag whatsoever. I tried a multitude of different types of songs (from instrumental, to rap, to rock, etc.) and they all sounded good with the bass adding a nice touch as well. There isn’t much more to say on the performance of this device – it works as expected and sounds great! There is no crackling or hissing sound that I encountered unlike previous products I have reviewed.

Overall:
This is a very solid product that has an outstanding range of sound. Unfortunately it does not have an easier way of connecting (WLAN or WiFi) but it does work very well with Bluetooth. Things to improve on would be to use material that doesn’t attract fingerprints as much, have a LCD screen showing current song name, and maybe even a few physical buttons for those of us who prefer them over touch buttons. Overall, the BeLive speakers are a good bang for your buck as they have incredible bass and sound quality (as you would expect from a high-end speaker).
